AbigailWoodsAbigail Woods, senior Vice-President of the Central Veterinary Society has just been appointed Professor of the History of Human and Animal Health by Kings College London.

She has worked in academia since completing her PhD on the history of foot and mouth disease in 2002 and has published widely on the history of One Health, livestock health, agriculture and the veterinary profession. This is the UK’s first chair in veterinary history, and its creation reflects the importance of Abigail’s work to historians and veterinarians alike. You can find about her career change from veterinary practitioner to veterinary historian in this 2013 Veterinary Record careers article:
